“Everything was beautiful and nothing hurt”

Listen:  Kurt Vonnegut Jr. is dead.

He was the only hero I had left and I miss him dearly already. Author, orator, and playwrite, don't nearly describe what this man meant to our world.

More than anything else he brought the insanity of the world into focus with a wit and sense of irony that was far beyond the pale. He was as tender as he was vicious.

I'm going to propose that it wasn't the whiskey and cigarettes that called him away, nor was it George the lesser that finally broke his spirit. I think he'd just finally become fed up with our insistence on stupidity.

Click here for an MP3 of Kurt reding from "Breakfast of Champions" in 1970.

Finally, perhaps we'll see what he really puts on his tombstone.
